Higher Education with a Higher Purpose
Baptist College of Health Sciences
Baptist Health Sciences University (Baptist University) prepares graduates for careers of service and leadership by providing a comprehensive health sciences education within an integrated environment of learning and Christian principles. Building on the legacy of the original School of Nursing established in 1912, Baptist University is today a private, specialized institution focusing on undergraduate and post-baccalaureate education in the health sciences. The school attracts a diverse student population who share a commitment to Christian values and ethics, academic excellence, and lifelong professional development. Learning takes place not just in the classroom setting, but also in some of the finest medical facilities available. Our curriculum includes both general and health studies, as well as major-specific course work in order to prepare competent and caring health care professionals. In support of their mission, Baptist Foundation is committed to assisting students in securing the financial resources needed to pursue their education.
Scholarships
Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation facilitates donations for the University to provide students with scholarships that include (but not limited to) Memorial Scholarships, Allied Health Scholarships, Nursing Alumni Scholarships and many more. In 2020, more than 200 students received needed financial aid through these scholarships.
Mission Trip
Campus Ministries facilitates extracurricular opportunities for joining faith and career through mission activities. These include an annual international medical mission trip. Through the Orr-Russwurm Christian Medical Missionary Fund, the Foundation is able to assist financially students who otherwise could not afford to participate.
Blessing Bags
With generous donations, BHSU is able to offer students beginning clinicals, where they apply the skills and knowledge they have learned in the classroom and in labs to a hospital setting, with a “Blessing Bag” of supplies they are otherwise unable to afford.
